I am a Professor of Biochemistry since October 1, 2015, and was HOD in the Dept of Biochemistry, University of Ibadan between August 1, 2022 to July 31, 2024. I am presently on a 8-month leave, and will be serving as Visiting Professor to University of Medical Sciences. My research interest is in drug discovery from natural products and assessment of chemotherapeutic potentials of drug-candidates as antitumour agents. I have studied the antioxidative and free radical scavenging effects of natural antioxidants. In functional experiments, l have studied the underlying mechanism of cardiovascular effects of kolaviron, a complex from Garcinia kola. Also, I have worked on the anticancer and anti-angiogenic potentials of medicinal plants in cancer cells. Presently, l have developed an experimental model of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in castrated rats. On-going research: Screening array of bioactive compounds as anti-BPH agents.
